“When my dearest dog-pal Maggie passed away 2016, I felt inconsolable, missing her in my life. A card from a dear college friend arrived in my mail. The cover photo and words together on Cardthartic’s “Old Soul” design completely encapsulated my feelings and beliefs in the spirit of a dog and what it brings to a human life who deeply appreciates their soul.

“I have kept the card near Maggie’s urn and opened it often. It’s consoling to this day. This morning I opened the card again and read it, then looked on the back and noticed that it was made in the USA — another thing I had greatly appreciated about the card my friend had selected. So I decided I would investigate Cardthartic’s website: Perfection!

“I read Cardthartic’s A Brief History and completely related to the experience that led founder Jodee to create the company. Just as she experienced, while reading the cards I received when I lost my own dad — and later with my mom’s passing — I found that, with a few exceptions, the printed words all seemed lacking and trite. Always, though, it was the kind, thoughtful, expressive, humorous words written by the sender that soothed.

“When I need to send a card, I often buy a blank card to write my own sentiments and know from responses I receive that they are spot-on and sound sincere. I’ve always loved to write: fancy word-smithing and coming up with catchy, fun expressions or loving, expressive sentiments whether in a card to send to someone in party invitations to our home. I have often wondered — in this huge industry of card sending — who do these card companies hire to write the passages? Even with emailing and texting there remains a huge seduction and need for the written word and taking the time to send sentiments in a tangible form. So the card industry thrives!”
