Mar 4, 2025 – When we released this design several years ago, we were surprised that few Cardies ordered it. So few, in fact, that it made most business sense to just retire it. But we could never quite bring ourselves to send 2,000 unsold cards to recycling … which now leaves us with the opportunity to give them away to members of this community who will put them to good, loving use. It’s a powerful message that certainly holds a great deal of meaning today.

So if you’d like to help send caring, healing energy out into the world for and on behalf of Pope Francis, please feel free to order up to a half-dozen FREE … while supplies last. The card is blank inside for your own message to others who could use your support or maybe just a simple show of solidarity.

As I was writing this yesterday, I somehow found myself led to the following poem Contributing Cardie Rosemary Tolliver wrote and shared with me — and me with you in a Cardie Newsletter — back in 2021. At the time, she downplayed it as nothing more than stream-of-consciousness, but I found it a most soothing and beautiful balm then and again now.

It reads to me like a true Cardthartic Experience, Rosie honoring her emotions by laying her sadness and consternation out there as she did. I reached out to her yesterday and she agreed to my sharing it again. Rosie wrote:

Earlier today, I was feeling very
mortal and inadequate.
There are too many starving
or homeless or sick.
Our children won’t get to know
the 23 species that were declared
extinct this week.
Lies seem to be thriving
while goodness feels diminished.
How to make my little corner better?
I said thank you, out loud,
for long-blossoming zinnias and
for all those who stayed to cheer on
the last cross-country runners.
I called a friend who lives alone,
far away, who will turn 91 tomorrow.
Tomorrow, I will work on
the quilt I am making for refugees.
Tomorrow, I will try again
and pray that is enough.
