June 17, 2025 – Ah, to be stretched out in that meadow, letting time pass, longing for not a thing. That is one way I see of achieving peace these days. Not the kind that would make the world news, of course, but rather of the “put your own oxygen mask on first” variety.
As I was walking along with my dog yesterday, I found myself doing a very simple meditation practice that we’d shared here a couple of years ago. We’d spotted it on a site called healingbrave.com and loved its simplicity. It felt so good to find myself doing it yesterday that I’m posting it again for you here and now.
Peace Begins With Me
Take some deep breaths. With your thumb,
– touch your index finger and say: PEACE
– touch your middle finger and say: BEGINS
– touch your ring finger and say: WITH
– touch your pinky finger and say: ME
Repeat as many times as feels good to you.
It’s that simple … and that soothing.
Long before I created Cardthartic, I instinctively practiced another beautiful way of finding inner peace: Card sending! It was only through our great and growing little Cardie Community that I learned how many people consider card writing a form of meditation, and a truly gratifying mindfulness practice.
As psychologist and Contributing Cardie Roxann Hasset describes, “Sending cards gives me a moment to connect and share a bit of beauty, humor, or tenderness with those I care for.” Busy mother of three active boys, Contributing Cardie Jenni Betz says, “I love sending cards so much because the process redirects my thoughts, away from to-dos and toward prioritizing people I love.”
Self-proclaimed Cardie Anne LeClaire has written 11 best-selling books published in 24 countries. She says, “One of the joys of my life is sending cards to the people I love — even those I don’t know well but who have touched my life in some way — and letting them know I am thinking of them. I choose cards that simply but beautifully help reflect what is in my mind.”
Contributing Cardie and travel writer Christina Valhouli says, “Card sending gives me a moment to sit and think and reflect on a loved one … and receiving a card from me is so much more meaningful than getting a quick text.” Contributing Cardie and professional writer and photographer Sarah Freymuth: “I take great care crafting what I want to say in a card and pray it meets whoever is receiving it exactly where they are and when it needs to.”
Happily retired Contributing Cardie Mary Pat Rossi: “With every card, I feel like I’m sending a hug and love!” And what a lovely closing thought by retired and yet always-growing Cardie Donna Cochran: “I like to think that, somehow, the wonderful vibes from our Cardie Community creates a kind reality that is felt way beyond what we can imagine.”
Below you’ll see the designs that are trending now in our Cardie Community. I find it very interesting that these cards you’re collectively sending the most are all, in their own way, very soothing. A sure sign of the healing energy needed in the world today. Thank you for putting so much of it out there.

What a beautiful sharing and description that describes how I feel when I send a card – to a friend or even to someone I barely know who impacted me for a moment.
I also just received my newest order of cardthartic cards and am truly touched by the care in which they are wrapped inside the box before they are sent.
