May 12, 2022 — Yesterday I was in a zoom meeting with a very talented PR agency owner who I hope (fingers crossed!) will agree to help us spread the word about Cardthartic. It was immediately clear that caring and gracious Mindy connects with our cardie community and its mission of honoring emotions, so I felt comfortable sharing with her the sort of questions and comments we regularly receive.
“I’m looking for a card that says something to the effect of, ‘This is in God’s good hands,’” a caring cardie named Nancy had emailed me recently. “My brother-in-law is now on a ventilator, so I want to send my sister a card every day. Thank you for making this possible.”
I saw Mindy’s big, bright eyes start to glisten as she looked right into mine. “I’m a cancer survivor,” she explained, and then in a bold yet still very tender way added, “See that closet door over my left shoulder? In it is a large box in which I keep all the cards I received throughout treatment. My husband can’t go near it because he relives the sadness and fear of losing me. But I love it … those cards gave me strength, they gave me courage. Those cards helped get me through and become stronger and more compassionate for it.
“So every year, on my anniversary date of being ‘cancer free!’ I sit in that big closet for hours and re-read all those cards,” she said. “I fill with gratitude for the words of love and support that friends and family sent me during that most difficult time, words of love and support that I still feel today.”
You can imagine the pride and gratitude I felt for you, cardies, when I could say to this bright and beautiful warrior, “At Cardthartic, we get to see the best of humanity stepping up and touching hearts like yours every day.” Thank you for simply being who you are.

PS! After finishing this story after midnight last night, I crawled into bed and, with one last glance at my phone, read an email that had just popped in. The subject line read, “Ok … we’re in!” and then Mindy Bianca of Mindy Bianca Public Relations (mbpr!) had written, “Hi! I hosted a spontaneous staff meeting via zoom tonight with such short notice that two of us were already in our PJs. Despite the casual attire, the MBPR team got right down to the serious business, reviewed my call with you and unanimously voted to add Cardthartic to our client roster.” Yippee! She closed with a line that tells me this is gonna be good: “In the words of the entire team: ‘Yay! We already love these cardies!'” Very cool.
I came upon CARDTHARTIC during the time of the pandemic…I love the cards & magnets, etc. With CARDTHARTIC, there is something for every situation, and they are uplifting. I sent one a week while my cousin was dealing with breast cancer. At CARDTHARTIC I was able to find uplifting cards that made her laugh and others that brought happy tears. I love this site, and the variety you have of small gifts and perfect cards for any situation.

Oh goodness — that story moves me Jodee! Not every story ends in the way we wish and pray for but at least we can lighten the path. My friend Beth had a very long battle. Every week I sent a Cardthartic card for lifting spirits, for feeling friendship’s warmth and often for hope through prayer. The lighting of candles cards helped me so much. Her husband told me this sweet thing that I had not recognized. He said every week I would go to the mailbox and there would be a “sage green envelope” and I would know it was from you . . . it was always the one she wanted to open first. Thank you Jodee for putting the words, the photographs and the sage green envelopes together in a way that helps us move past the struggles – even for a day.
